Follicular unit extraction (FUE), also known as follicular transfer, is one of the most advanced methods of hair transplant that assures the patient of result that looks almost natural. This is a sophisticated method in which the occipital area of the scalp is selected as the donor area from where the follicular units are extracted. After extraction, the units are then stored in a solution until the process of implantation is complete. Then during the process, the roots or grafts are implanted on bald areas by making openings that are made like slots by needlepoints. After the grafts are put into the slots, they get fixed over a period of 5-7 days due to the process of wound healing. FUE is done under the effect of local anesthesia and takes up to 10 days to completely heal. During this period the patient is advised to take painkillers or antibiotics to avoid any kind of infection. The growth of implanted hair starts after 120 days and patients can expect good results after 6 -8 months with good density of hair.
